About Me
As a specialist dyslexia teacher with experience of teaching English at GCSE, KS3 and KS2, I have tried a variety of multi-sensory methods to support students who find spelling and reading problematic.
I must admit that I had limited success in this regard. Using language-based support, many students progressed in terms of grammar and text structure, but spelling and reading fluency was still problematic.
On returning from Abu Dhabi where I worked as a SENCO and English Teacher, I decided to set up my own education and well-being business – the main advantage of this has been having the time to think more deeply about this problem.
Qualifications
I have a wide range of qualifications which have informed the HF Colour-Code Programme:
- MA Ed. (Linguistics)
- Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills
- SpLD (Dyslexia) Diploma
- PGCE
- SENCO Award
- How Language Works (Lexis Education) Teacher Trainer
- Sand Story Trainer

Featured Course Books
The HF Colour-Code Method Coursebook and Workbook can be purchased as a stand alone. A course can be booked to provide a more in depth explanation of the HF Colour-Code Method.
The HF Colour-Code Method Coursebook and Workbook Series explains how to use the HF Colour Codes along with a Phonics Phase 3 – 6 (UK) series which teaches each spelling pattern. The Bundle includes 5 books (also available as a flipbook).
The HF Colour-Code Bundle includes the following resources:
- A coursebook outlining the HF Colour-Code Method. It includes an outline and effectiveness of the approach and ways in which the method can be incorporated to support dyslexic students.
- A series of workbooks based on the Phase 5, Phonics (UK) spelling words. These are presented by illustrating one word per page for students to practice.
- Phase 3, 4 and 6 wordlists. Each list is colour-coded to use with your students.
In total there are 15 booklets in total!
- The booklets can be used directly with your dyslexic students or students who struggle with spelling or reading because of an additional need. They offer a visual approach that improves visual memory so that they can memorise each word.
Face to face or online training sessions can be booked to support the use of the HF Colour-Code Method by emailing your request.
Further Course will be added to the page at a later date. These include
- Colour-Codes and Model Texts to teach Writing. This will teach how to use colours to help memorise sentence structures and paragraph structures.
- A Student Centred Approach for Students with Additional Needs. This will provide a method to use students’ interests to teach basic English skills and will provide example books based on topics such as football and cars.
